This recital focus on a mixture of popular and not-so-well-known piano music. Starting from Georg Friedrich Handel, still belonging to late baroque music, to Franz Schubert at the joint of the classical and romantic period.
Clara Schumann had a remarkable musical influence on her husband Robert, although she was more popular as a performer, she was also a brilliant women-composer.
Robert tells in his “Papillons” the story of a ball of masques, inspired by Jean Paul’s romance “The Stupid Years”. In the same period around 1830 Chopin writes his “Ballade”. The theme of the introduction in both compositions is very similar, Chopin starting from “C”, Schumann from “D”. Who was first?
